Food Photography & Styling | March Challenge | Breakfast

I’m baaaack!!!!  After a stressful and time-consuming divorce hiatus, I’m so happy to be back with the ladies from The Inspired Plate!!  I’m still trying to move….and still feel like I’m in the middle of complete chaos….

And oh but ugh – my props are all at the new house!!!!!!  Okay, easy to rectify by ANOTHER trip to Pier 1 and discovering  the perfect bowl for this recipe (and also a new table runner, place mats, etc.  but we’ll save that for another time!).  But my bin of flatware was also at the new house – but so easy to find so I delayed shooting by one morning because I just didn’t want to use ordinary stainless steel silverware.  Okay that was probably a lot of completely unnecessary information but it’s tough enough to accomplish this challenge when “normal” life gets in the and not crazy and between-two-homes kind of life that I’m experiencing now!

But shooting food this morning made me feel C. A. L. M.

Really.

I needed the distraction;  I needed to do something other than repeatedly packing up my belongings.  (Isn’t that a song???  Packing up my belongings, I’ve got to get away???)  Ugh…..

So…this month’s challenge was Breakfast……a meal I don’t often eat except for Greek yogurt, or an avocado drizzled with olive oil, OR – the quinoa I had this morning!

Please check out our blog circle – next on the list is the fabulous  Tammy Bilodeau, Whitecourt AB Photographer – please go check out what she did this month and take a ride along our blog circle!

Glad to hear your settling in Stacey. This looks yummy, I have never even once tried Quinoa, but I may have to…..love the little curls of orange rind.

I’ve never seen quinoa before and this looks pretty appetising :) I love how sharp the detail in the grains are and also how fresh and bright everything looks! Also, I want that backboard… 😉

I’m glad you got your beautiful silverware…I hate photographing silverware…maybe it’s because mine has no character. :) Your colors are marvelous I love how the orange accents play off the red of the quinoa. Nicely done!

Oh Stacey!! I’ve read that quinoa is “overdone”, but I will never get my fill. Quinoa is one of my all time favorite ingredients, but I have to admit that it rarely makes an appearance at breakfast. LOVE the styling with the orange peel, which happens to be another favorite ingredient. My kids have recently discovered that quinoa “isn’t so bad”, so I’m going to give this a try for the family.
Im envious of you and Laurie with the prop shopping, and I wish that you and she were nextdoor so that I could go with you! You all have a better eye than I do.
I can’t imagine moving… I have SO much unnecessary stuff that has accumulated in the 16 years we’ve been here that the thought of sorting through it gives me the shivers. Glad for your new purchases and I hope that everything settles down soon.

Foggy Morning | Longboat Key & Bradenton FL Photographer

I love fog!!  I grabbed my camera, hopped in the car, and went across the bridge to Bradenton Beach to capture some photos just for fun last weekend.  The light was amazing and kept changing as it got brighter as the sun began to rise, and then as it grew a little darker as the fog seemed to settle in a bit more.  The pelicans were a bonus – kind of tough to get them without a long zoom lens (or unless you just so happen to have a bucket of fish) – including the trio of white pelicans.  Nice to get some captures “just because.”

Thanks Dave!! :)

Clarke Family Beach Session

I LOVED this session. Aside from being such a wonderful family, their wardrobe was perfect and the lighting on the beach that day was to die for due to the sea fog. The kiddos were adorable although as with anyone in the age 2-4 bracket, they really had no use for me or my camera. So as usual, I resorted to bribes of candy……….
